One of the items on the agenda of the October meeting of New Machar Community Council was floral displays in the village. Dave Sandison, Chairman of Newmachar Garden Club, was invited to attend in order to express the views of members.
While some members of the Garden Club are happy to continue to help maintain floral displays in the village, their numbers are too few to continue without additional volunteers. Help is required with tasks such as planting, watering, weeding and dead heading.
There are two concrete planters and six metal planters at various locations along the main road.
As well as seeking additional volunteers, the Community Council is interested to hear what type of floral displays residents would like to see.
The Council is also open to suggestions as to how the displays could be maintained. Perhaps an individual or a small group of friends would like to ‘adopt’ just one planter, perhaps you want to volunteer for a particular task such as go on the watering rota, maybe you enjoy dead heading and weeding or maybe you would like to co-ordinate the team of volunteers – provided enough people come forward.
All plants and materials would be provided – you only have to supply the labour! Please contact the Community Council via this website if you have any suggestions or if you are interested in helping in any way.
