Minutes

The Minutes of the meeting of 1st November 2007 were accepted as a correct record       subject to (i) an amendment to show Councillor Cullinane as having been absent and            having presented apologies (ii) an insertion in lines 9-10 of Minute 861 to read:      ...along the GNSR/A90 corridor even the A947 corridor plus...

866.     Police Matters (See Minute 856)

Inspector Pratt had submitted a report which noted that the perpetrator of the vandalism mentioned in Minute 856 had been apprehended.   Two subsequent          thefts of a lawnmower and scooter plus a break-in were the extent of further             problems.  Nevertheless, the Police presence would become more frequent.  GM            remarked that there had been some further vandalism since the Inspector’s report.

867.     Aberdeenshire Council Matters (See Minute 863)

            (i) Mr Rendall was reported as stating that the footpath wanted on Hillbrae was included in a list of works for 2008.

(ii) CllrMF reported on the serious nature of the crack in the Parkhill to Fintray Road    which had occurred at Cothal. A water main was threatened and the road could be       closed for a long period.

(iii) AC’s Community Planning Committee would be making small grants for    appropriate community projects.  GM was asked to note this for the Hall project.              There is now a Community planning section on the AC website.

(iv) It was noted that AC charges for hiring facilities needed harmonising as a result of     different practices in the three former District Councils.  There would continue to be      concessions in appropriate cases.

            (v) It was intimated that the extent of the Newmachar Polling District would remain       the same as before.

868.     Community Hall Project (SeeMinute 850)

GM reported that the Fashion Show had been a great success. The organisers of the        campaign were now moving towards the position where they would be seeking grants            from appropriate funding bodies.

869.     Youth Project (See Minute 857)

The Drop-in Centre was not as yet in regular use, it was reported.  MT promised to        publicise the facility in Dyce Academy while it was hoped to have leaflets in the shop.            RB said it was now too late to have a notice in the imminent issue of the Newsletter.

870.     The AWPR (See Minute 858)

It was agreed that NMCC should send in a letter to Transport Scotland formally            objecting to the particular listing orders which seemed to apply to the arrangements for      the Parkhill area that the Council had already criticised in general terms.   NMCC             would then have the right to be involved in the hearings.  RB had furnished a note of     the orders and MT would write immediately in the light of this. It was noted that the          owner of Goval Farm was objecting on his own account and did not wish his case to be       included with the NMCC submissions.

871.     Christmas Lights (See Minute 864)

CllrFH reported that AC had not made a project grant for the lights although they         might do so later.  NMCC decided to purchase four or five new lights nevertheless from its own resources, especially as CllrFH had secured a 15% discount from the         suppliers.  The lights would be erected on 29th November.  Warm thanks were   extended to CllrFH for his continuing efforts to arrange for the village’s annual         Christmas decorations.

872.     Donation

Mr John Duguid’s donation of £18.95 was noted.

There being no further business, the meeting was closed at 2035.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 24th January 2008.
