Minutes

The Minutes of the meeting held on 26th May were accepted as a correct record subject to the amendment of Minute 557 (i) to state that the grant for 2005-6 is to be £431.25.

563      Police Matters

It was agreed the FH be recognised as NMCC’s official contact with Inspector Pratt of    Grampian Police.

564.     Road Safety:

            (i) Lighting.

A letter from Mr Bruce Sutherland drew attention to the inferior street lighting on         the eastern side of Old Meldrum Road.  It was agreed that it be reported to Mr             Sutherland that NMCC had raised this matter with AC (See Minutes 251 & 271)     but       had been assured that the lighting levels reached officially required levels.              Nevertheless, CllrF agreed to pass on the continuing concern felt on this issue to            the       appropriate officials.

(ii) Pedestrian Crossing (See Minute 538)

CllrF reported that renewed investigations on vehicle speeds and pedestrian numbers      showed that Newmachar reached only to 0.44 on the scale where 1.0 indicates the           need for a ‘Pelican’ crossing although this is an increase on the former reading of     0.3.

565.     Community Planning

RB drew attention to the opportunity for NMCC to comment on the AC plans for       Community Planning Partnerships by the deadline of 23rd September.  It was sensible             that the revised plans now recognised that community councils had a role to play.              NMCC agreed that it would make an official submission.

566.     Routine Business

There were no important developments to report in respect of the First Responder         Scheme (549); the Community Hall  (558); the Youth Project (553); or the Western          Peripheral Route (561).

567.     Flower Tubs (See Minute 560)

It was agreed to seek an AC project grant of £220 for the purchase of primroses to          place in the flower boxes over the winter months.  The new metal flower boxes    provided by Mr RB Ross had arrived and arrangements to place and plant them were            in hand.

568.     Planning Applications

NMCC noted the application by Mr RB Ross for an office building at Parkhill and that by Mr Barclay for premises for the ‘Blue Bonnet’ children’s nursery at Cunnighar but          saw no reason to comment officially.

There being no further business, the meeting was declared closed at 2018

The date of the next meeting was agreed as 25th August 2005
